It might take a little more time but the end results will be worth it.Strat-O-Matic Computer Baseball is a multifaceted game with many options and features. If I add that arrow in through the editor though I can change the color, animate it, faded it in and out, all that kind of stuff. in the editor gives you much more control and options than doing it on the fly and is less strain on your system.Įxample: Say while recording you screendraw a red arrow and than decide you want that arrow to be blue instead, well your pooped. I will admit that I also don't add markers while recording and just play the recording in the editor and add things as I play it through.īy adding arrows or circles etc. Now I will sometimes make a recording the way the OP is doing if I just need to get something out to someone but most of the time I will record the screen and narration with the recorder (depending on the project I sometimes record the narration with Audacity instead of going through the recorder) and add markers (with the Hotkey M) while recording where I may want to add something in editing. Easier for me personally to apply on the fly. I did change the marker shortcut though to be just the M key. My recording process is along the line of what you posted. My machine is tuned and more than capable of intense use but the issue to me is more about the control and end results. I had no problems but didn't think I would. Just as a test I did a recording the way the OP is trying. You have pretty much described the workflow I implement.
Of course you are free to do what you want, but I personally think you will ultimately find that the "on the fly" workflow will be a pain to implement and achieve desired results. And you could then insert the desired object on top of the video.
Then, after you record and you open the editor, you could use the marker to quickly find where you want the object. So you would likely do well to use this keypress during your recording process to insert a marker where you want one of these arrows or other objects. I believe that while recording, you are able to press Ctrl+M during that recording process to add a marker.
You will likely find that while it might be a good idea to play the video back and record your narration, you would want to treat this as a separate and individual step.
My personal take on this is that it's going to be a real struggle to end up with something desirable if you are trying to do this "on the fly". This is where the editing features of something like Camtasia or other editors really shine. I might consider that this desired workflow is going to prove troublesome as well as cumbersome. Just chiming in with an observation here.
